Saw a man prowling
in shrubery just beneath
front porch I went back
to get my pistol &
found it was rusty
& wouldn't work -then
got down my army rifle
but could only find
one shell - loaded it
but knocked over book
this alerted burglar
that I took a shot
in the direction he
ran. I suppose it was
a great blessing my
pistol did not work
for I would certainly
have shot him. John
arrived from Rochester
& is looking fine - I am
very happy to have a
united family.
