Performed the most tedious
operation I have ever had
this morning. The case was
one of obstruction of com-
mon bile duct and I anasto
mosed it to Duodenum. The
patient was a dear friend of
mine and his condition was
so critical that I was fear-
ful of looking at him on table.
He stood operation fine
and I am much encouraged
although he may not pull
through as he is very weak
Del came up for supper and
we listened to the Victor
until bed time

This has been a bad
day - my patient on whom
I had operated yesterday
suddenly passed off
today. I am naturally
very much depressed

It takes me a long time
to get over loss of patient
I cant help but feel that
I have not managed case as
it should be. There is
only one comfort, I always
try to do my best and
no one can do more than
that.
